BIBLE STUDIES

St. Patrick Parish and Shrine offers several Bible studies at various times and other ways to foster adult spiritual growth.

8-Week Bible Study
Is a program that introduces Catholics to Scripture and makes the Bible approachable by explaining the overarching narrative story of salvation and shows how the various books fit together to get that story across. Once a person understands the “narrative thread” of the entire story, they are far better prepared to understand not just the individual parts, but also more complicated matters related to the Christian faith.

St. Patrick Shrine is offers an 8 week introduction to the Bible Timeline series a couple of times a year. This is a DVD series in which a very dynamic Jeff Cavins takes you through the bible in a way that is exciting and easy to understand. We try to schedule these meetings at a convenient time, usually between the Masses in the church on Sundays.

24-Week Bible Study
St. Patrick also offers a more in depth 24-week study, which is broken up in three phases for a total of 24-parts in a year. In this DVD series, Jeff Cavins goes into greater depth with more stories and theology in the time line. It is a bigger commitment, but well worth the effort.

  • Phase 1: Early World, Patriarchs, Egypt & Exodus
  • Phase 2: Desert Wanderings, Conquest & Judges, Royal Kingdom, Divided Kingdom, Exile
  • Phase 3: Return, Maccabean Revolt, Messianic Fulfillment, The Church

Gospel of Matthew – 24-Week Bible Study
What was Christ’s mission, really, and what does He mean when He talks about the “Kingdom of Heaven”? Join us for Matthew: The King and His Kingdom, a Bible study that dives into the personhood and kingship of Christ.

You will see Jesus as the awaited Messiah who fulfills the promises and prophecies of the Old Testament, establishes the New Law, and inaugurates the Kingdom of Heaven. Set in the rich context of Jesus’ life, Matthew shows us who Jesus is and what His life and teachings mean for us today.

If you have any questions or you are would like to sign up for the any of these Bible Studies, please contact the parish office.

ACTS – 20-Week Bible Study
The Acts of the Apostles provides a historic framework for understanding the rest of the New Testament.  Paul's letters in particular come alive in a new way when they are read within the context of the Acts narrative.

Book Studies with Padre Jeff

At various times throughout the year, Fr. Jeff shares reflections and spiritual guidance through book study discussions, including his own publications, such as, “New Adams New Eves in the Praying Hands of God for Nothing is Impossible for God,” which is a non-profit publication and publications authored by others.
